Dr. Gopakumar Cholayil
Dr. Gopakumar Cholayil is a distinguished climate scientist, author, and science communicator specializing in environmental issues, agroclimatology, and sustainable development. He holds a postgraduate degree in Meteorology and a Doctorate in Agroclimatology from the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT).
Formerly associated with the College of Climate Change and Environmental Science at Kerala Agricultural University (KAU), Dr. Gopakumar has dedicated his career to public outreach and education. An accomplished author with 11 books on climate science to his credit, his work spans regional and national media, including regular contributions to Kerala Calling (PRD, Government of Kerala) and various online and print portals.
His extensive contributions to scientific literature have been recognized with several prestigious honors, including the Kerala Sahitya Academy Scholarly Literature Award (2022), the KSCSTE Science Literature Award (2025), and the Kerala Language Institute's Dr. N.V. Krishna Warriyar Memorial Award (2025). he has been contribution on polar sceince climate dinamics, himalayan ecosystem etc.
