ഇത്തവണ വേനൽമഴ (Summer Rain) പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ചതുപോലെ ലഭിക്കാതിരുന്നതോടെ പാലക്കാട് ജില്ല കടുത്ത ജലക്ഷാമ ഭീഷണിയിലായിരുന്നു. സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് ഏറ്റവും കുറവ് വേനൽമഴ ലഭിച്ച ജില്ലയും പാലക്കാടായിരുന്നു.
