Oman Weather update: Rain, Wind, Hail storm to continue in oman

Muscat: Most of the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman have witnessed rains and thunderstorms accompanied by winds and hail since Monday evening. The Wilayat of Al-Khaboura in North Al Batinah Governorate recorded the highest amount of rainfall, said the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MAFWR). Today, varying rains fell in the governorates of Musandam, Al Buraimi, North and South Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah and Al Dakhiliya, ranging from heavy to medium, which led to the flow of a number of valleys and reefs, and affected traffic in the streets and suspension of studies in most governorates.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MAFWR) published the amount of rainfall distribution over a number of states of the Sultanate from 27 to 28 March 2023 until 10 am. The Wilayat of Al Khabourah in North Al Batinah governorate recorded the highest amount of rain in the Sultanate of Oman during the rains than most of the Wilayats of the Sultanate, reaching 52 mm.

The Wilayats of Izki and Al Hamra also recorded large amounts of rain in Al Dakhiliyah governorate, which reached 40 and 38 mm respectively, followed by the Wilayat of Ibri and Dhank in Al Dhahirah Governorate with a quantity of rain that amounted both to 20 mm, then Nizwa with a quantity of rain that amounted also to 20 mm, then Sohar with 18 mm and Bahla with 16 mm.

While the Wilayats of Khasab and Madha in Musandam Governorate recorded 15 and 14 mm respectively, Saham and Al Jabal Al Akhdhar both recorded 10 mm each.

On the other hand, the Wilayats of Suwaiq and Shinas in North Al Batinah Governorate recorded less amount of rain, amounting for both to 3 mm, while the Wilayats of Liwa in same governorate recorded the least amount of rain water among the Wilayats of the Sultanate, with an amount of 1 mm.
