A well-marked low pressure (WML) formed in the Bay of Bengal last day, has intensified to Depression in the wee hours today. It is very likely to form into a cyclonic storm “Michaung” near southeast Bay of Bengal and southwest Bay of Bengal tomorrow night.

The coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, received heavy rains in the last few days due to WML in the Bay of Bengal. will continue to receive rainfall in these areas even today as well as tomorrow. the low-pressure area will intensify into a cyclonic storm and then move towards the Tamil Nadu coast and recurve towards AP coastal area. Some weather forecasting models (NWP) suggest that the cyclone may landfall in Tamil Nadu.

However, Metbeat Weather observers says that this possibility is low and there is a possibility of changing direction and heading towards Andhra Pradesh or Odisha after getting close to the Tamil Nadu coast. However, the current system will cause heavy rains in areas including Tamil Nadu in the coming days as well. Our weatherman says that along with Tamil Nadu, there is a possibility of heavy rains in southern Kerala as well.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), cyclone michaung is likely to form in the southwest Bay of Bengal by December 3. Tamil Nadu is likely to move towards andhra pradesh coast by Monday,” the IMD said in its morning bulletin today.

As the cyclone approaches the Tamil Nadu coast, there will be heavy rains in Tamil Nadu. Along with this, there is a possibility of heavy rains in the southern districts of Kerala as well. As the direction of the cyclone changes, there is a possibility of heavy rains at isolated places over central and north Kerala.
