Weather update 22/10/24: Cyclone Dana to form tomorrow, Kerala expected more rain tomorrow

The low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal is likely to be a depression before noon today. It will continue to move from the current Myanmar coast to the east coast of India. Meanwhile, Dana will intensify into a cyclone tomorrow. Isolated rain is likely to occur in Kerala today (Tuesday) and more rain is likely to occur tomorrow (Wednesday) than today.

Cyclone Dana is likely to make landfall between Balashore and Puri in Odisha late in the night on October 24 and early morning of October 25. Odisha and Bengal will receive rainfall from today. There is a possibility of local flooding here in the coming days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that Dana is likely to make landfall between Puri and Sagar Island along and off the Odisha-West Bengal coast with a maximum speed of 120 kmph.

Moderate rains will continue in Kerala in the coming days. As per the observations of Metbeat Weather, there will be isolated rainfall in Kerala today.

There is a possibility of thundershowers in the eastern region after noon. But there is a possibility of rain in more areas tomorrow than today.

However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in south Kerala, central Kerala and hilly areas. Yellow alert has been issued in Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts today and tomorrow. The Disaster Management Authority has also warned the public to remain vigilant as there is a possibility of thunderstorms and strong winds along with the rains.

The National Centre for OceanOgraphic Research (INCOIS) has announced that fishing has not been disrupted along the Kerala- Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts.
