Heavy rains in many parts of UAE. Along with the rain, there was a strong thunderstorm. The UAE Meteorological Center has reported heavy rain in Abu Dhabi since Sunday morning. The NCM also said that the public should be alert as there is a possibility of severe thunderstorm along with the rain.
The Meteorological Department said that heavy rains have been received in Ghana. Al Bahia also received light to average rainfall. Videos of the rain at Abu Dhabi International Airport flooded social media. However, there were no reports of the flight being disrupted due to weather.
Al Shahama, Shakhbout, Al Shalila, Al Taweela, Ghanadhan, Al Mamoura, Al Reef, Yas Island, Mohammed bin Zayed City and Al Mafraq all received rain. Due to the intensity of the rains, the main streets and valleys in these areas were waterlogged. Citizens and non-residents have been requested not to go near flooded areas and valleys.
Abu Dhabi Police has also launched a new road alert system across highways to alert drivers of traffic hazards or weather conditions. The aim is to increase road safety for motorists.
Abu Dhabi Municipality has been monitoring the weather conditions and deployed emergency teams round the clock to deal with various emergencies. In case of falling trees, water bodies, street lights, public can contact the authority through various channels.
