The depression in the Arabian Sea has strengthened twice today. The depression is located in the east central region of the Arabian Sea parallel to the Konkan-Goa coast. The low-pressure area is located at a distance of 120 km from Panjim in Goa and 280 km northwest of Honavar in Karnataka.

The deep depression is likely to landfall between Ratnagiri and Panjim late tonight or early tomorrow morning. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur over Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra and north Kerala.

 

Low pressure has also strengthened in the Bay of Bengal

The cyclonic circulation formed in the northwestern part of the Bay of Bengal has strengthened and become a well-marked low pressure (WML). It is very likely to move westwards and northwestwards and cross the coast in Odisha.

The cyclonic circulation along the Tamil Nadu coast continues

The cyclonic circulation along the Tamil Nadu coast is also continuing. It is situated at an altitude of 5.8 km above sea surface in the southwest Bay of Bengal. Our observers says that all these systems are currently influencing the climate in Kerala.

Heavy Rains In Kerala Till Monday

The heavy rains in Kerala will continue till Monday. It is likely to be followed by intermittent heavy rains, metbeat weather said.

Fishermen’s alert

Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea along and off Kerala and Lakshadweep coasts from 30/09/2023 to 01/10/2023 along and off Karnataka coasts.

Strong winds with speed reaching 40-45 kmph and in some cases up to 55 kmph are likely to prevail.

Squally wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph is very likely along and off Karnataka coast.

According to the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services, fishing is prohibited on the aforesaid date and area.
