Heavy rains in central and southern districts; Rain in northern districts today
MetBeat News for April 5 reported that more areas will start receiving summer rains in Kerala after the 12th of this month. Heavy rains have been reported in southern districts since last night. Ernakulam also received rain this morning.
There will be rain with thunder in southern districts this afternoon. Central Kerala and South Kerala will get more benefit of rain today, tomorrow and the next day, but a few areas of North Kerala are likely to experience drizzle or moderate rain.
Wind advection zone formed from Kannur to Thiruvananthapuram
There is a chance of rain in North Kerala today till Kozhikode. Out of this, rain is expected in Kozhikode and Malappuram districts tonight and early morning. Metbeatnews.com stated in previous posts on April 5 that a cyclonic circulation is forming near Sri Lanka and will cause rain. Rain may be received in the coastal areas of Kannur district and Payyannur during late night or early morning.
Kottayam’s Kumarakat has received the most rainfall in the last 24 hours. 5.7 cm of rain fell here. Then Pathanamthitta received more rain. 4.4 cm of rain fell here. Alappuzha’s Karumadi received 3.8 cm, Cherthala 3.2 cm, Thiruvananthapuram Thattatumala 1.8 cm and Vellaini 2.9 cm.
Heavy cloud presence near South Kerala and Kanyakumari Sea this morning
Alappuzha, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, Kollam and Ernakulam districts received rain yesterday. Drizzling rain was recorded in Vadakancheri of Palakkad district. 2 mm of rain was recorded here.
Meanwhile, yellow alert has been declared in all 14 districts today due to heat. It is observed that there will be an increase in temperature by 2 to 3 degrees. As the humidity is between 60 and 70 percent, the heat index is felt to be high. Observers at MetBeat Weather say this will increase the severity of the heat we feel and cause physical discomfort.
