Five earthquakes in 9 minutes hit eastern Taiwan’s Hualien County
Hualien: Five earthquakes occurred in just nine minutes on Monday in Shoufeng Town, Hualien County, eastern Taiwan, Central News Agency Focus Taiwan reported. Two weeks ago, a powerful earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale struck Taiwan’s east coast, killing four people and injuring more than 700.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) announced in a post on X: “Preliminary earthquake of note: M6.5-11 km northeast of Hualien City, Taiwan. Four people were killed and more than 700 injured in the earthquake that struck Hualien City on April 3, the National Fire and Disaster Management Agency announced, adding that 132 of the injured were in Hualien County, near the epicenter.
