മേട്ടുപ്പാളയം കൂനൂർ ഊട്ടി ദേശീയപാതയിൽ മണ്ണിടിച്ചിൽ ഉണ്ടായതിനെ തുടർന്ന് താൽക്കാലികമായി ഗതാഗത തടസ്സം നേരിട്ടു. മണ്ണിടിച്ചിലിനെ തുടർന്നുണ്ടായ ഗതാഗത തടസ്സത്തിൽ കേന്ദ്ര സഹമന്ത്രി എല്‍ മുരുകനും വഴിയിൽ കുടുങ്ങി.

രാവിലെ ഊട്ടിയിൽ നിന്നും ഇതുവഴി കോയമ്പത്തൂരിലേക്ക് പുറപ്പെട്ടതായിരുന്നു മന്ത്രി. രാവിലെ മണ്ണ് നീക്കംചെയ്ത് ഒരു വശത്തൂടെ ഇരുചക്ര വാഹനങ്ങൾ കടത്തിവിട്ടു. പിന്നീട് ദേശീയപാത അധികൃതരും ഫയർഫോഴ്സും എത്തി മരങ്ങൾ മുറിച്ചുമാറ്റിയ ശേഷമാണ് മന്ത്രി ഉൾപ്പെടെയുള്ള ആളുകൾക്ക് യാത്ര തുടരാൻ ആയത്.

ഈ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ ശക്തമായ മഴ തുടരുന്ന സാഹചര്യത്തിൽ വീണ്ടും മണ്ണിടിച്ചിൽ ഉണ്ടാവാൻ സാധ്യതയുള്ളതിനാൽ ഭാരം കൂടിയ വാഹനങ്ങൾക്ക് നിരോധനം ഏർപ്പെടുത്തിയതായി ജില്ലാ ഭരണകൂടം അറിയിച്ചു.
