Monsoon likely to arrive in Kerala on May 31, says IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the monsoon will arrive in Kerala by May 31. The four-day model variation applies to the prediction. This was announced by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in a press release at 8.30 pm last night.

Earlier, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had announced that the monsoon will reach Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Sunday (May 19). The Andaman Islands is the first Indian island to arrive during the monsoon season. It is at least 10 days from here that we reach Kerala, the land part of India. The monsoon is usually scheduled to arrive on June 1.

Private weather agencies had also predicted that the monsoon would arrive earlier this year.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has been forecasting monsoon since 2005. The prediction will be made with a four-day model prediction variance. In the second phase of monsoon forecast, the Meteorological Department will announce the date of arrival of the monsoon.

The exact date will be announced again in the last week of May. From 2005 to 2023, the IMD had made a monsoon forecast for 19 years. Of these, the forecast was not made only in 2015.

In 2021, the weather department had predicted that the monsoon would arrive on May 31, but the monsoon arrived on June 3.

In 2022, the monsoon was predicted to arrive on May 27. However, the monsoon arrived on May 29.

In 2023, the monsoon was predicted to arrive on June 4, but arrived late on June 8.

If the last three years have been spent in the last three years, this time the monsoon arrives in Kerala at the end of the El Nino season.

The monsoon season runs from June to September 30. The monsoon arrives first in the country and the last one departs from Kerala. Therefore, kerala has the longest duration of monsoon.
