7.5 magnitude earthquake; Japan Tsunami Warning
7.5 magnitude earthquake hits Japan The earthquake occurred in the Noto area of Ishikawa. Aftershocks were felt at various places. Following the strong earthquake, the Japan Meteorological Agency has issued a tsunami warning. Tsunami warnings have been issued in areas such as Naigata, Toyama and Ishikawa.
There are also reports of tsunami waves hitting the city of Suzu. The government has warned people through the media to move to higher areas. According to the Hawaii-based Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, tsunami waves are likely to hit the coast of Japan up to 300 kilometers from the epicenter.
The Japan Meteorological Agency said monster waves up to five meters high could hit Noto. Meanwhile, a 1.2 meter tsunami has been confirmed in Wajima City, Ishikawa.
