Kerala weather 21/04/24: Know which areas will receive summer rains today
Let’s take a look at the areas in Kerala where there is a possibility of rains today. According to observers at MetBeat, more rain is likely to occur in the districts of central Kerala today (April 21). There is also a possibility of isolated rain in the northern districts of Palakkad and Malappuram. In Malappuram, the coastal areas of Ponnani and Tirur are likely to receive rainfall.
Heavy rains likely in central and southern Kerala
Isolated rain is likely to occur in Ernakulam, Idukki and Thrissur districts in central Kerala during the night and in the evening. In southern Kerala, rainfall is also expected in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Alappuzha districts. The chances of rain are relatively low in Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram districts. More areas of central Kerala are expected to receive rain tomorrow as well.
It’s going to get hotter, yellow alert
The day temperature is likely to rise by 39 degrees in Palakkad district, 38 degrees in Alappuzha district and 37 degrees in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur districts till April 24. In Kottayam, Ernakulam and Malappuram districts, the temperature will rise up to 36 degrees. The yellow alert has been issued as it is up to 3 degrees above normal.
There is a possibility of high waves along the Kerala coast till 11.30 pm tonight. The waves will rise at a height of 0.8 to 1.2 meters. According to the National Oceanographic Research Center (INCOIS), the speed of the waves is likely to vary between 35 cm and 55 cm per second.
