വാർഷിക മഴ ലഭ്യത 250 സെ.മി ആകു­ന്ന­താണ്‌ കുരു­മു­ള­കിന്റെ ശരി­യായ വളർച്ചക്ക്‌ ഏറ്റവും അനു­യോ­ജ്യം. മഴ­ല­ഭ്യത കുറഞ്ഞ പ്രദേ­ശ­ങ്ങ­ളിലും കുരു­മു­ളക്‌ വളർന്നു കാണു­ന്നുണ്ട്‌. 20 ദിവ­സ­ത്തിൽ 70 മില്ലി­മീ­റ്റർ മഴ, ചെടി തിടം വക്കാനും പൂവി­ടാനും മതി­യാ­കും. പൂവിട്ടു തുടങ്ങിയാൽ പിന്നെ അത്‌ തുടർന്ന്‌ കൊള്ളും ശക്തി­യായ മഴ കുരു­മു­ളകു മണി­കൾ വിക­സി­ക്കുന്ന സമ­യത്ത്‌ ലഭി­ച്ചി­ല്ല­ങ്കിലും കുറച്ചു ദിവ­സ­ത്തേ­ക്കാ­യാൽ പോലും ഈ സമ­യത്ത്‌ അൽപം വരൾച്ച ബാധി­ച്ചാൽ അത്‌ ഉത്പാ­ദ­നത്തെ സാര­മായി ബാധി­ക്കും. നീണ്ടു­നിൽക്കുന്ന വരൾച്ച ചെടി­യുടെ വളർച്ച­യേയും ബാധി­ക്കും.
