5.3 magnitude earthquake hits Dhofar governorate
Earthquakes were felt in various areas of Dhofar Governorate early on Wednesday. In a statement, the Earthquake Monitoring Center (EMC) of Sultan Qaboos University said that an earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale was felt in Shalim-Al Hallaniyat Islands at 1.05 am.
The epicenter of the earthquake was 187 km north-east of Salalah. Residents said slight tremors were felt in Ouqat, New Salala, Chowk, No. 5, Sada and Hafa.
