മലയാളി കാലാവസ്ഥാ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞന്‍ റോക്‌സി മാത്യു കോള്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടെ 32 പേര്‍ക്ക് രാഷ്ട്രീയ വിഗ്യാന്‍ പുരസ്‌കാരം
മലയാളി കാലാവസ്ഥാ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞന്‍ റോക്‌സി മാത്യു കോളിനും ചന്ദ്രയാന്‍-3 ന്റെ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞന്‍ ഗോവിന്ദരാജന്‍ പദ്മനാഭനും ഉള്‍പ്പെടെ 32 പേര്‍ക്ക് കേന്ദ്ര സര്‍ക്കാരിന്റെ രാഷ്ട്രീയ വിഗ്യാന്‍ പുരസ്‌കാരം. ഫിസിക്‌സ്, കെമിസ്ട്രി, ബയോളജിക്കല്‍ സയന്‍സ്, ഗതിതശാസ്ത്രം, കംപ്യൂട്ടര്‍ സയന്‍സ്, ഭൗമശാസത്രം, വൈദ്യശാസ്ത്രം, എന്‍ജിനീയറിങ് സയന്‍സ്, അഗ്രികള്‍ച്ചറല്‍ സയന്‍സ്, പരിസ്ഥിതി ശാസ്ത്രം, ടെക്‌നോളജി ആന്റ് ഇന്നൊവേഷന്‍, ആണവ ഊര്‍ജം, ബഹിരാകാശ ശാസ്ത്രവും സാങ്കേതികവും തുടങ്ങിയ 13 ശാസ്ത്ര മേഖലയിലുള്ളവരെയാണ് ഈ പുരസ്‌കാരത്തിന് പരിഗണിച്ചത്.
പുരസ്‌കാര ജേതാക്കള്‍ക്ക് പിന്നീട് പുരസ്‌കാരം ഔദ്യോഗിക ചടങ്ങില്‍ കൈമാറും. ഭൗമശാസ്ത്ര മേഖലയിലാണ് കോട്ടയം ഭരണങ്ങാനം സ്വദേശി റോക്‌സി മാത്യു കോളിന് പുരസ്‌കാരം ലഭിച്ചത്. പൂനെ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ ഇന്‍സ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് ട്രോപിക്കല്‍ മീറ്റിയോറോളജിയിലെ (IITM-Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology) കാലാവസ്ഥാ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനാണ് റോക്‌സി.
ജപ്പാനിലെ ഹോക്കിയാഡോ സര്‍വകലാശാലയില്‍നിന്നു സമുദ്ര കാലാവസ്ഥാപഠനത്തില്‍ ഡോക്ടറേറ്റ് നേടിയിട്ടുണ്ട് റോക്‌സി. ഇന്തോ- പസഫിക് മേഖലയിലെ കാലാവസ്ഥാപ്രവചനത്തില്‍ നിര്‍ണായക സംഭാവനകള്‍ നല്‍കിയ യുവ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനാണ്. ഇന്ത്യന്‍ സമുദ്രമേഖലയ്ക്കായി പ്രഥമ കാലാവസ്ഥാ മോഡല്‍ വികസിപ്പിച്ചു. ഇപ്പോള്‍ കാലാവസ്ഥാമാറ്റവും മണ്‍സൂണും തമ്മിലുള്ള ബന്ധം സംബന്ധിച്ച പഠനങ്ങള്‍ക്കു നേതൃത്വം നല്‍കുന്നു. ലോകത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും പ്രഗല്ഭരായ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞരില്‍ ഒരാളായി സ്റ്റാന്‍ഫോര്‍ഡ് യൂണിവേഴ്‌സിറ്റി തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ട്.
ബയോളജിക്കല്‍ സയന്‍സിലാണ് പ്രൊഫ. ഗോവിന്ദരാജന്‍ പദ്മനാഭന് പുരസ്‌കാരം ലഭിച്ചത്. താഴെ പറയുന്നവരാണ് പുരസ്‌കാര ജേതാക്കള്‍.
