Uncomfortable heat expected in the coming days

Temperatures are expected to gradually decline from now on. However, high humidity levels could make the weather feel even hotter. Although thermometer readings may fall from the peak levels recorded during summer, the heat felt by the body could remain intense, according to Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Society.

UAE temperatures cross 50°C

Temperatures in the UAE crossed 50°C again this month. On August 14, a temperature of 50.4°C was recorded at Bad Dhaffas in the Al Dhafra region at around 2pm. It was the highest temperature recorded in the country that day.

Earlier, on August 5, Bad Dhaffas in Al Dhafra recorded a high of 51.2°C at 12:45pm. This is the highest temperature recorded in the UAE so far in 2026. On August 1, Al Shawamekh in Abu Dhabi recorded a temperature above 50°C for the first time this year.

Experts urge residents to stay cautious

Experts have advised residents to avoid direct exposure to the sun as much as possible during periods of extreme heat. People should drink water regularly, even when they do not feel thirsty.

Those who need to go outside during the hottest hours are advised to wear light-coloured, loose-fitting and lightweight clothing. Exercise and other strenuous physical activities should also be reduced during periods of intense heat.

Vehicles should also be checked carefully during summer. Experts particularly advise motorists to ensure that tyre pressure and other essential vehicle components are in proper condition.
