മലക്കപ്പാറ മുതൽ ചാലക്കുടി വരെ വ്യാപിച്ചുകിടക്കുന്ന വനമേഖലയിലെ 14 ക്യാമ്പുകളിലായി താമസിച്ചാണ് പഠനം നടത്തിയത്. ഏകദേശം 50 ഓളം വിദഗ്ധരും അത്രതന്നെ വനംവകുപ്പ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരും സർവേയിൽ പങ്കെടുത്തു.
